Holiday Dam

SC PICTURE PROJECT Leave a Comment

SC Picture Project / Anderson County / Holiday Dam

The Holiday Dam in Belton is owned and maintained by Duke Energy electric and gas company. Built on the Saluda River, it feeds the Holiday Shoals Hydroelectric Power Plant. The plant was built in 1905 by the Belton Power Company to power cotton mills in Belton and neighboring Williamston. The power plant was eventually sold to Duke Energy, who continues to operate the plant today.
