Springtime blooms enhance the facade of this historic home in downtown Barnwell. The antebellum cottage was built around 1825 and boasts elaborate nineteenth-century woodwork. The home was built for the Buckingham family, who likely came to Barnwell from Connecticut in the early 1800s. Beside the house on the same lot is a small building thought to be Barnwell’s first post office building.
