SC Picture Project / Barnwell County / Christie House

This nineteenth century home in Barnwell was built around 1885. It is named for its most well-known inhabitant, Mrs. Lula Vogel Christie. Christie was an avid botanist who was noted for her knowledge of plants and her work in cultivation. She was a daughter of German immigrant Trangott Vogel, a prosperous businessman.
