SC Picture Project / Barnwell County / Elko

The rural community of Elko in Barnwell County sits on the cusp of Aiken County. It was originally referred to as Ninety Six for its distance in mileage to Charleston. However, because a town by the name of Ninety Six already existed, it was renamed Elko after a nearby plantation.
