Ruffin Baptist Church is one of two churches that sit side-by-side on the aptly-named Double Churches Road in the Colleton County town of Ruffin. Ruffin Baptist Church was formed in 1923 when eight people met in a wood frame, two-room school house and decided to charter their own church. Soon afterwards a lot was purchased and a house of worship was built.
Ruffin Baptist Church has built additions to its structure over the years and continues to be an active part of this small comunity along with its next-door-neighbor, St. John United Methodist Church.
