Florence County Library — Florence, South Carolina
SC Picture Project | Florence County | Florence County Library

This stately edifice in downtown Florence is formally called the Doctors Bruce & Lee Foundation Library. It serves as the headquarters for the Florence County Library System. Florence County also has branches in five other communities – Johnsonville, Lake City, Olanta, Pamplico, and Timmonsville – and a bookmobile.
The Doctors Bruce & Lee Foundation Library was formed in 1995 following the sale of the Carolinas Hospital System in order to “advance the general welfare and the quality of all life in the Florence, South Carolina area and the surrounding region by providing economic support to qualified programs and non-profit organizations.” The foundation granted $10,635,000 to the Florence Library to be matched by Florence County.
Other projects resulting from grants by the foundation include the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center and the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center, among many others. The foundation also provides scholarships such as the Nursing Scholarship Program at Francis Marion University.

Great photos. For a “new building” it certainly has class. Florence should be extremely proud.
