SC Picture Project / Lexington County / “The Coop” at USC

The University of South Carolina‘s practice golf complex – known as “The Coop” – is the school’s only athletic practice facility in Lexington County. Located in West Columbia, the Coop opened in May of 2012 and was designed by golf course architect and University of South Carolina alumnus Beau Welling.

Lexington County was given the “Excellent Site Reuse” award by the Environmental Protection Agency for building the complex upon a former landfill. The 8-acre facility includes two large practice tees, a putting green, and five multi-directional practice tees.
