This structure, located in Little Mountain, was built around 1880 as Wheeland Church. Traditionally many churches, particularly in rural areas, sponsored schools. These classes were generally held on nearby property and named for the church; sometimes they were held within the church itself. The Wheeland School operated in its namesake church, and today the structure houses the Wheeland Community Center.
We would like to make this page better. Do you have information about the Wheeland School that you would like to share? If so, please send it to the South Carolina Picture Project. Thank you!
Do you all hold services there ?
The building is now used as the Wheeland Community Center so no services are held anymore unfortunately.
