Whitmire High School

SC PICTURE PROJECT Leave a Comment

SC Picture Project / Newberry County / Whitmire High School

The old Whitmire High School was built in 1920 and served students from seventh through twelfth grades until 2003. That year, the high school consolidated with Whitmire Elementary School, which taught students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Today, Whitmire public school students in all grades attend the Whitmire Community School. The former high school has sat vacant since the consolidation, though it has been cleaned and repaired by the town. The town owns the building and hopes to sell it.
