The new Oconee County Courthouse in Walhalla was completed in 2003, and is home to many county offices as well as the county’s main courtroom. The fate of the old courthouse, which was built in the 1950’s and is still in relatively good shape, is still being debated.
According to OconeeCountry.com, the new courthouse was built to handle the volume of county government business that transpires in Oconee County. Its new offices provide the appropriate facilities needed by employees who work hard to meet the ever-increasing demands of an expanding population.
