These were pictures the Security Federal Savings and Loan Association had for their customers. The Savings and Loan is out of business today. Thanks to John Howell of Columbia for sharing these historical photos with us. John writes: “My mother obtained them in the late 1960s.”

Do you have any of the House of Prayer tent services on Cherry Street in Columbia in the 1940s-50s? We are celebrating our centennial year and I’m trying to do research with pictures. Thank you.
We do not have any ourselves, but we did look for you and it appears that there is one of a baptism located at the Richland County Digital Library: https://cdm16817.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p16817coll7/id/287.
Do you know of a photo of snow in the 1890s? I am writing an article for The Columbia Star, part of which includes my grandmother’s comments re: snow in her diary, 1890-95. Would love to find one to use with story. Thank you, Kathy
Hi Kathy, we do not have an archive of historic images outside of what is posted unfortunately, but we did do a search using http://www.scememory.org. That website searches through various archives in the state (that participate) and we did see some of Columbia in the snow in that timeframe, hopefully one of these can help! Here is a direct link with wording we used for the search: http://test.scmemory-search.org/?q=columbia+snow
My great grandfather was a master chef at the Columbia Hotel but I can't find any photos of him and the other staff (cooks). Are thee any other archives that are available that may have photos of him?
These photos were obtained by my mother in the late 1960s.
I recently came upon a partial set of these photo reproductions – they have small numbers in the lower left corner. Any idea when the set was issued through the Savings and Loan?
