The purpose of the South Carolina Picture Project is to celebrate the beauty of the Palmetto State while preserving some of its vanishing landscapes.
The small town of Awendaw only stretches only 12 miles, and 65 percent of its area is made up of protected lands, including the Francis Marion National Forest, Cape Romaine National Wildlife Refuge, Sewee Environmental Center, and the Birds of Prey center. Residents here enjoy unobstructed marsh views, and long reaching forests.
