The purpose of the South Carolina Picture Project is to celebrate the beauty of the Palmetto State while preserving some of its vanishing landscapes.
This small community was founded in the mid nineteenth century around the same time the railroad in Williamsburg County was established. For a time the area was called Salters Depot. The depot remains a fixture here, though the town is best known for Cooper’s Country Store, a famous stop for motorists traveling to and from the Grand Strand.
