SC Picture Project / SC Picture Project / Add Your Image(s) Here!

The South Carolina Picture Project is a federally-recognized, 501(c)3 nonprofit.

When you contribute an image to this digital repository, you are helping to build an historical resource that will endure for generations. Our purposes are education and the preservation of images and knowledge.

You will receive full credit (including a link if desired), and you will retain full ownership of your image. You are simply providing us the right to permanently display your image within the South Carolina Picture Project. Thank you!

Easy Image Release and Upload Tool

Please submit your release and upload your image(s) using the form below.

Release terms:

1.) I certify that I own the uploaded image(s), and I grant the South Carolina Picture Project permanent, non-exclusive rights to display the image. I retain ownership of the image.

2.) I understand that when a large version of my picture is displayed by the South Carolina Picture Project, it will be accompanied by a credit that identifies me, accompanied – if I wish – by a link to my website.

3.) I also understand that the South Carolina Picture Project reserves the right to decide what images it will display, where the images will appear, and whether the image needs to be cropped, straightened, or otherwise edited.

Submission Criteria

(1) Images may not include watermarks, embedded copyrights, digital date stamps, borders, or vignettes.

You will receive a large credit directly below your photo. Your photo will be right-click protected, and it be accompanied the unequivocal statement, “Do not use without written consent.” If someone asks us to use your photo, we will forward the request to you for your determination.

(2) Images should be sent at their highest size and resolution (no less than 1,600 pixels wide)

Because this is a historical repository, we ask for the largest available files for safekeeping and future documentation as technology advances.

(3) The picture must truly say “South Carolina.”

Generic scenes – such as backyard flowers or wildlife – will not be considered. Close-ups of people cannot be added unless they are accompanied by a model release.

(4) The picture should not be overly “Photoshopped.”

Our goal is to document South Carolina as it is, so if a photo has been heavily edited, we may be unable to add it.
