This is not the home of Dr. Raysor. This was the Wannamaker home.

Dear Debbie, THANK YOU so much for letting us know about our error. We have corrected it but, unfortunately, have not been able to find much information on the Wannamaker Home to fill in the gaps. If you or anyone you know might be able to help, please let us know! We’d love to learn more and to help make this entry in the South Carolina more complete. Thank you again!

There is an error on the owner’s name. This was the Wannamker Home on Highway 601 in St. Matthews. The story you wrote is correct about Dr. Raysor himself, but the Raysor Home is on Bridge Street in St. Matthews. You have it in another picture on Calhoun County as Raysor-Weeks home. That was the home Dr. Raysor grew up in. Dr. Raysor’s sister married Frank Weeks and they raised their child there, then another generation of family lived there. Dr. Raysor’s mother is 102 and still alive, so cute. Her dad was so loved by the community.

Dear Woody, thank you for this helpful information about the Raysor Family and especially for your help in allowing us to identify the Wannamaker Home correctly. I am sorry that it has taken us so long to change the name – I inadvertently missed this comment earlier. What a beautiful description of Dr. Raysor! I am on the way to add this information – and your tribute – to our page on the CORRECT Raysor Home, located online at https://www.scpictureproject.org/calhoun-county/raysor-weeks-house.html. Thank you again! 🙂
