SC Picture Project / Cherokee County / Blacksburg Police Department

This historic building in Blacksburg boasts its construction date over the entrance. Built in 1898 as a Masonic temple, the structure now houses Blacksburg’s finest. The 1898 Society, a nonprofit Blacksburg organization founded to support public safety officers, is named for the year adorning the building’s archway. The society raises funds for equipment and other necessities, contributing to both the police department as well as the local volunteer fire department.
